Contacts on SIM Cards or Subscriber Identity Module for a cellular phones are very important to us, it is advisable to always have backups on your important contacts. One method is to Synchronize your contact numbers to your email or Gmail. In this tutorial I am using an LG Optimus L5 - E450 smartphone with Android version 4.1.2 aka Jelly Bean.
Step 1. Press Apps button, go to Settings, locate Accounts & sync, under it, tap Auto-sync data.
Step 2. Go to Contacts, press menu select Import/Export
Step 3. Under Import/Export:
Important note: be sure that you are logged-in to your email/gmail and that you are connected to the Wi-Fi or your mobile data is ON. When using mobile data, there maybe additional charges to your load so please be aware. Thanks and God bless.

- Import from SIM card
- Import from internal storage
- Export to SIM card
- Export to internal storage
Select Import from SIM card
Step 4. Select your email address and wait until it finishes synchronization and your done.

Since then Gmail has never looked back and has gained a large chunk of Email Market share in terms of number of users. Best part of Gmail is that it has lots of basic and advanced features and also it offers a lot of i.e. upto 15 GB free online storage for each Gmail user which is spread and shared across all of Google Services.
