Microsoft planned to buy Nokia

Two of the largest companies in the world will possibly merge. Nokia, one of the biggest mobile phone manufacturer and leading smartphone maker and The Giant Microsoft by Bill Gates. These planned probably the one of the surprising news in the technology industry, by this announcement last Monday September 2, 2013, about 7.7 Billion US dollars or 5.44 Billion in Euro currency.

Steve Ballmer announced to retire as CEO of Microsoft, and planned to regain the mobile market by making the Microsoft as a gadget and services company like Apple and Samsung.

Ballmer said in a press release

“It’s a bold step into the future – a win-win for employees, shareholders and consumers of both companies. Bringing these great teams together will accelerate Microsoft’s share and profits in phones, and strengthen the overall opportunities for both Microsoft and our partners across our entire family of devices and services. In addition to their innovation and strength in phones at all price points, Nokia brings proven capability and talent in critical areas such as hardware design and engineering, supply chain and manufacturing management, and hardware sales, marketing and distribution.”

On the other hand Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop will step down and will become the VP of Devices and Services and rejoin the Microsoft once the deal will be closed. Elop worked at Microsoft and left in 2010.

Nokia's Lumina Smartphones  are running a Microsoft operating system, but these phones are not as competitive like the iPhone and Android phones of Samsung.
