A little introduction
To verify your Paypal account you need to have a credit card or debit card, I personally chose debit card; for me it is more safer than credit cards. Debit cards can only be used when you have loaded some amount of money on your account. In my case I use East West VISA debit card to verify my Paypal Account.
Now that you have already your East West VISA Debit Card, you can now use it to verify you Paypal Account.
To verify your Paypal account you need to have a credit card or debit card, I personally chose debit card; for me it is more safer than credit cards. Debit cards can only be used when you have loaded some amount of money on your account. In my case I use East West VISA debit card to verify my Paypal Account.
Visit the nearest East West bank branch in your area, East West Bank has branches nationwide. The tellers are also familiar in handling Paypal transactions so they can really assist you, just tell them that you need a VISA debit card card. Minimum deposit is only Php 100.00 but I suggest to deposit at-least Php 200.00. Present at least 1 valid Government issued ID and proof of billing like Electric Bills, Water Bills or Telephone Bills. Fill up their application form. Your VISA Debit card will be released within 4-5 working days depending on your location.
Upon Receiving the card you will be advised to changed the PIN Code, and Signed at the back to activate the card.
- Log-in to PayPal official website.
- Click on Profile>Add/Edit Credit Card
- Make sure that your Name in Paypal and in your card are the same
- Select Card Type = VISA
- Enter your 16 Digit Card Number
- Select Expiration Date
- Enter the 3-digits number located at the back of your card as Card Verification Number
- Lastly verify your Billing address if it matches the your billing address in you card.
- Add Card
Once you successfully added your card, you will be deducted Php100.00 in Debit Card.
Paypal will ask you 4 digit code to fully verify your account. Go to East West Branch for assistance and they will give you the 4 digit code, then you can now have your Paypal verified.

hello ma'am joy, in my case I came back to the bank after a week. just want to ask if your paypal transaction was credited to your bank statement. if so, ask the teller for the code. in my case they called their head office for verification on my paypal transaction, and gave me the 4-digit codes. thanks

Deletehi flora, the PIN code is inside the envelop together with your card, it is in the black shaded rectangular size. To change your PIN code, visit the bank's ATM you will see an option to change your PIN. Thanks

Sila ang magaactivate ng account mo online. Same thing goes kung mag add ka pa ng another account. Kaya twice ako pumunta ng branch para magpaapprove lang. Yung first time may pinaprint sa akin tapos yung second time, wala na pinaprint.

Deleteno need to open an account with the bank kung prepaid card lang. just bring the necessary docs and IDs and pay the fees.
Deletenow as for debit cards, remember that ALL debit cards are connected to a bank account. Hindi sha tulad ng prepaid na pwedeng zero balance dahil ang bank account is may maintaining balance. Yung EastWest basic account only has P100 maintaining and P500 to earn interest (one of the lowest maintaining balance in the industry) that comes with a debit card already. Most savings account from banks come with a debit card with mastercard or visa logos already.
I have two basic accounts with EastWest for security purposes, one I use for purchases and the other where I maintain my funds. Kaya I just transfer funds online very easily.
And good news to prepaid cardholders. I believe we may now reload online. I'm still in the process of enrolling my prepaid card and I'll get back to you once I have successfully done reloading it using my online account.

is this forum is still open: just want to ask if someone have experience something like this, the 5-7 days minimum and maximum days of processing from paypal to EWB debit card is over in my case, but its been already 8 days now, and the my money is still not showing in my account in EWB, how many days should I wait for the EWB to process it in updating my EWB debit card account, coz the process in PayPal to EWB is now over, the PayPal team have done well, but the EWB team, I really dont know are they updating there records?
ReplyDeleteHello there, are you referring to withdrawing funds from paypal? I also had that kind of exp. it took me two weeks before the money reflected in my account, and I just withdraw it last day (june 16,2014) at EWB atm, just be patient.
DeleteI think you should contact EWB customer service because they obviously have the records on what has happened to your funds. They will be the best people to answer your query.

yep. but the account no..is not written enclosed with the card.. you can ask the bank personnel about your account no.. it is usually reflected on your receipt upon your first deposit. :)

Deletebaka walang load ang prepaid card mo. hindi nga maveverify yan. you need at least a certain amount to get verified by paypal when you're using either a debit or a prepaid card. try loading at least the equivalent of US$2.00 on your prepaid card then try to get verified again. And you don't need to worry about the amount because it's going to be given back to your PayPal account once you enter your EXPUSE Code to verify your PayPal account. You can get your EXPUSE Code by contacting an EastWest CSR a few days after you apply the card as means of verification. If you have an EastWest Bank account online, it MAY appear as well.
DeleteUpdate on this one: Instead of $2.00, since PayPal is deducting P100 now (which will be given back to your PayPal account as form of credit) as means of verification for the card, make sure you have an amount higher than P100 plus your minimum maintaining balance or its equivalent in foreign currency on your bank account before adding the card to your PayPal account. This way PayPal would be able to get the P100 amount without you having to pay a service fee for having your balance fall below the minimum amount required.

hi dan, any valid ID, like Postal ID, Company ID, Voters ID, SSS, or TIN have it photo copied and just present it to the bank with your latest electric bill under your present home address, not necessary that it's under your name as long as the home address it same as what you stated in your application form. ReplyDeletehello, as state above post, a minimum deposit is Php 100.00 but much better if you will deposit Php 200.00 if you want it to use to verify in your paypal account.. You don't have to open another saving account.. apply for a VISA DEBIT CARD. bring your latest electric bill and Valid ID.
DeleteThe Eastwest Visa Debit card ALWAYS comes with a bank account, may it be just a Basic Savings account (with minimum P100 maintaining deposit) or a Current account (checking) with ATM debit card. You can NEVER have the ATM debit card without opening a bank account. So to answer your question, yes you need to open a bank account in order to have the Eastwest Debit card.

I've done it before sa BDO, 50 fee for paypal withdrawing below 7k tas 200 fee from BDO so a total of 250 ang fee. any idea how much pag sa EWB? ang nababasa ko kasi sa previous comments is paypal to card lang. Deletehello po, Ask ko lang kung ano po yung Balance Requirement CHarge Debit sa Eastwest. Nagdeposit po kasi ako ng 1300. tapos pagwithdraw ko 800 lang tinanggap ng machine, kinagat nila yung 500 at sabi napunta daw sa Balance Requerement cHarge Debit. nakakainis naman yun.
ReplyDeletebaka yan yung service fee ng bank dahil nagfall below minimum balance requirement yung account mo. Ang tanong is magkano ba yung balance mo before ka nagdeposit ng P1,300.00. Kasi for example, kung less than P100 ang balance mo at any time sa EastWest BAsic savings account mo, talagang sisingilin ka ng P500 per month for falling below minimum required balance. Dapat alam mo din yung mga fees sa mga ganyan, especially yung minimum balance requirement kung ayaw mong macharge.

ReplyDeleteGood day, I don't know about ordinary saving acct. what I did was just the VISA DEBIT Card of EASWEST Bank, about sa withdraw from paypal to bank account it took 4-5 day before it reflect on my account.. better to visit the nearest EW bank in your place for more details.. DeleteHey Thank you for the reply, the basic savings account is the one in this post, i think, i believe the one posted here is the one with maintaining balance of 100 and will earn interest when it reached 500 pesos., I applied last week, the teller is very accommodating, I still have to present an authorization letter from my land lady since I used the electric bill as a requirement but I already have an account, just need to present it to get my ATM, so far it was a good experience.
DeleteHello. Delay ba ang pag transfer ng Paypal to Eastwest? I transferred my funds last April 29 and completed na sya at expected date na darating eh May 5. Then nagtransfer uli ako nung May 6 at completed na rin ang status nya at expected na darating ng May 11. kaso ung dalawang transfer ko, di parin dumarating hanggang ngaun. pumunta ako sa branch kung san ako nag open kaso parang walang idea ung teller na nag assist sakin at ang sabi pa ay "kung wala pa sa account mo, di pa un pinadala ng PayPal". Anyway, naka 3 transfer nako from PayPal to Eastwest mula ng mag open ako ng account sa eastwest. RCBC gamit ko dati. Nag palit lang ako ng Eastwest kasi libre ang pagtransfer di gaya sa RCBC na me 100 pesos transfer fee. Pero kung alam ko lang na ganito gagawin ng Eastwest, di na sana ako nag open. Ano ba pwede ko sabihin sa teller at parang wala syang ideya sa online transaction. Gusto ko lang malaman kung napadala na ba ng PayPal sa Eastwest at kung kelan nila idedeposit sa ATM account ko. Sobrang hassle na kasi. Kinailangan pa tuloy mag loan ng Papa ko sa SSS dahil un ung perang inaasahan namin. Ty po sa sasagot.

ReplyDeletethen check the expiry of the card that you input on your paypal account.perhaps you typed in a year that's earlier than 2015. Keyword there is "expiry date."

ReplyDeleteBaka hindi enough ang funds ng debit card mo. kelangan may enough funds ka to purchase an item PLUS IT'S VERY IMPORTANT to keep a minimum maintaining balance para naman sa bank account mo. DO NOT purchase an amount na magfall below maintaining balance ang bank account mo or else you'll be charged a service fee by the bank for falling below maintaining balance. Always, remember, ang mga debit cards are tied up to a bank account kaya hindi dapat ma-zero balance or magfall below minimum required balance yung account mo.

ReplyDeleteSince meron na po akong Debit card sa EastWest nakapag-add ako ng deritsahan dahil yung ginamit ko noon ay EON of Union Bank kaso nag-expire na at hindi ko na naerenew. Wala namang problema kasi kahit hindi pa verified yung sa EastWest card ko ay nakapagwithdraw naman ako within two days lang. So mabilis.
Disappointed lang ako noong kukunin ko na ang 4-digit code doon sa banko. Hindi naman problema ito noong sa EON pa ang ginamit ko dahil may online account agad ako pagkatapos ko mag-open ng account. So dito sa EWB wala akong online account kaya ang ginawa ko mag-printa sana ako ng bank statement via bearer. Kaso lang nanghihingi pa sila ng 100 pesos na charge. GOD! 200 pesos na nga ang nakaltas sa deposit ko noong nag-add ako ng card sa PayPal which is refundable ang 100 kung na-verified na. Kakainis!

Hi, you may just visit directly sa EastWest Bank for assistance, they will contact their head office for your concern, just tell them that you are using it for paypal and the 4 digit code, and also you may apply for their online banking system (https://www.eastwestpersonal.com.ph/secure/wt_si.asp), signup there and printout and give it to the bank to activate you card for online access. DeleteHi everyone! I just want to share my experience using East West Visa Debit card. I have successfully added my card to Paypal and have successfully withdrawn money from Paypal to EW card. I followed the instructions in this blog, and thank you dahil na approve yung card ko. But take note that this tutorial said na i-add yung card sa CREDIT CARD. Pag nagtry kayo mag withdraw sa Paypal, you will be charged everytime. At aabutin pa ng 5 to 7 days ang pag clear.
ReplyDeleteHere's what I did: I added the card as a BANK ACCOUNT. Walang charge pag 7k up yung iwiwithdraw nyo at 2 to 3 days lang ang clearing time. :)
It works like the Eon card, minus the annual 350 pesos fee.
Just a thought. Won't this create an issue since card number ang inenter mo and not the bank account number even if they're both in one account?

ReplyDeleteFor account-related issues, the best people to ask would be the bank personnel or the bank CSRs. They would be the ones who would give the best answer as to why your card has not been activated yet.
DeleteSince nobody has asked this yet, can somebody tell us what your most common PayPal withdrawal amount is and how much does EastWest Bank charge for it (this is assuming you are withdrawing an amount higher than P7,000 to avoid the P50 PayPal withdrawal fee via banks)?
ReplyDeleteJust an FYI. I recently made a balance inquiry via online banking and I noticed that my bank account has a new account number next to the old account number. Today, I asked one of the CSRs and she said it doesn't matter if I used either of the account numbers but she advised it was much better if I used the new one. She didn't say anything as to until when I could use the old account number.

Given different fees for local & overseas withdrawals for these debit cards, do you have an idea of how much do they charge for online transactions vis VISA/MASTER? Let's say I purchase a plane ticket online/purchase in amazon which cost $155.00. Will they charge me more than the said amount for using it online?
If I use the card through POS (point of sale), how much do they charge? Let's say I used it in a restaurant overseas and use the card to pay via VISA swipe. Do they have an additional fee? Thanks! :)
hello cruiser vodka, since i'm just right here in the philippines, i have no idea about using it overseas, but locally, i think there are no transaction fees, if the cost is $155.00, then thesame amount will be deducted with your debitcard. (in amazon, however, i havnt purchase it there yet) ..

Being an online and overseas shopper myself, I have not experienced having any additional surcharges for purchases using my prepaid cards (I have been using a lot of prepaid cards online and abroad and unless any of you here knew of any Philippine prepaid card which does have any additional surcharge please let us know).
DeletePrepaid cards are not like credit cards where you owe a bank some money. Having surcharges of all sorts, including some of those purchases online and abroad, will be included in your credit card bill since the bank lends you your funds. For international purchases, most of these banks would even add some currency adjustment fees since you will be billed in a different currency for shopping abroad.
Now because prepaid cards have already been prefunded and you don't need to borrow any bank some money, these charges will not be included in your international purchases.
Just be careful because I think there are some banks which will charge you for declined overseas transactions due to insufficient funds so always make sure that you have enough top ups on your card to avoid this fee.

Deleteyou can call their call center po to get the 4 digit verification number. customer service are happy to help you. i did mine thru call. mas mabilis. they'll ask a couple of question. It yung customer service number nila Customer Service Hotline 888-1700. after dialing the number press 5 and 1 para diretso na.

Twice ako kumuha ng card sa ESB. and i attached them both sa paypal account ko. yung una email ang gamit ko para mg request ng code.yung pangalawa tumawag na ako. Mas mabilis kasi di kana kailangan pumunta sa branch nila. sometimes po di alam ng personel ng bangko ano ang gagawin to get the verification code.

Kapag nag-add ka ng bank account sa Paypal, wala ng 4digit code. At kapag debit/prepaid/credit naman ang pinangverify mo is laging 16 digits yun. Abot ba ng 16 digits ang bank account number mo?

ReplyDeleteP10,871.54 yung withdraw ko October 25, tapos P10,871.54 din yung pumasok sa EastWest savings bank account ko October 26. So does this mean walang fee ang EastWest bank kapag nagswithdraw sa PayPal? Or does it come after a few days pa?.. balitaan ko kayo after a couple of days. I'm happy na ngayon kasi very reluctant ako sa mahabang panahon about PayPal withdrawals. Ambilis lang pala.
BTW, nakalagay naman na kapag below P7k, may withdrawal fee ang Paypal. Kapag 7k and above, waived na. Make sure din na match yung name ng bank and PayPal accounts, and make sure na tama yung account number at bank code. I used the new Eastwest bank account number, not the old one para sigurado.
